When should cryogenic deflashing media be replaced?

There is no universal replacement interval. Assess size loss, dust, media consumption, longer cycle time and changes in yield, while also checking the machine separation and recovery systems.

Watch process results, not only elapsed time

If cycle time rises, residual flash increases or finish becomes inconsistent under the same settings, inspect whether the media has rounded, fractured or generated excessive fines. Also rule out load and batch changes.

Machine condition changes media life

Screens, recovery systems, wheels and pipework affect how much effective media remains in circulation. Recording top-up volume and removing fines is more reliable than replacing everything by calendar date alone.

  • Record top-up volume by batch
  • Inspect separation and recovery
  • Compare cycle time and yield before and after replacement
